By Tidalshark In keeping with the memory of Manny the Matador, and in honor of his brother Manny the Manatee, who works for the Brevard County Manatees (Baseball) the Miami Manatees Mascot shall be named M_n_y. (And no, I don't mean Monty.) The announcement will likely be made at the Media Day Event on October 28th. Yes, I agree. The originality around here is frightening. No I couldn't weasel the name of the female mascot out of anyone but I have had two of the staff of the Manatees confirm the male mascot's name on two different days. (Mindy was suggested to me by a fellow fan as a possibility for the female mascot's name.) In other news, the sweaters are supposed to look very similar to the ones shown on the Manatees� season ticket brochure, except the colors on the sleeves extended all the way down. The primary sweater colors will be black (road) and white (home) with green and gold (sand) trim. They were going to do palm trees on the back with the numbers but the idea was scrapped as being too hard to read. The Manatee have a new defenseman, Dmitri Doulebenets, who played with Mark Scally last year in Wheeling. I understand there is a second new player as well, but they wouldn't budge on the name. As I met Dmitri they had to own up to having him. The announcement will be made tomorrow (I believe). He supposedly signed last Monday, but Mark was told to hold off on the press release until the second player was confirmed. A set of trading cards is supposedly planned as a give away item this year (according to one of the players.) Center Ryan Kiley has added a new edition to his family, an English Bulldog puppy he has named "Boston". "The puppy was sick last night," said Kiley, who yawned and stretched during an outing at Young Circle in Hollywood Sunday. "He goes from a dead run to sound asleep," said Kiley about his new friend. "You'll hear him coming behind you and then nothing. You turn around, and there he is laying on the carpet, sound asleep."
