Doulebenets Seals 4-3 victory for Miami | ||
By TidalsharkWhere to start? I got my car back around 11:15 am today, having left it with Terry the Monday before last. Its going back on Monday as its still seriously screwed up. I forgot my ticket(s) and Mark was kind enough to leave me a ticket at will-call. I will now go put my tickets in the glove box of the seriously screwed up car so I dont forget them anymore. The Manatees acquired a new player prior to the game who I believe is Dan Donnette (#29). The Manatees started the season with 15 players on the roster; the sixteenth slot was being taken up by R.J. Roy who started the season on the I.R. Well, R.J. was waived today and referred to the Cape Fear FireAntz freeing up the sixteenth roster slot and Donnette was added. I have now found a facility with worse concessions then Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter. The Miami Arena now takes the Worst Concessions in the World trophy. I believe both facilities use Aramark, which may explain the problem. Last year, when the Jupiter season ticket holders complained about the concessions and threatened not renew their tickets, they were told they could bring cooler with their own food and beverages into the park. I wonder if this will work with the Manatees? In any case we had two concession stands open. Miami Sammys was not open so there was NO coffee and NO hot chocolate. I also hear that they ran out of hot chocolate last week and given the HUGE turn out the Manatees had, I believe that is COMPLETELY UNFORGIVABLE! In any case, I thought I bought the last two Budweisers in the Arena prior to the first... However I did discover that they do in fact have XXL replica sweaters at the merchandise stands. Now, does anyone have any idea where I can get mine lettered at? Im in a fowl mood, BTW, so please consider that when reading these comments.
Orlando 1 1 1 3 Miami 1 0 3 4
First Period Scoring:
Penalties: Goal horns are NOT an option. I dont believe that airhorns are on the list of items banned by the Miami Arena, so Im really going to have to look into investing in airhorns as there seems to be a real problem getting the goal horn to work at the Miami Arena. I also think its really sad that the Manatees announcer cannot be bothered to announce the assists on the home goals. Visiting team, sure, theyll give credit where credit is due but on the HOME goals? No one wants to hear about those, right? I like Weaver, but he went down into the butterfly on the Orlando goal, stopped Sandersons shot, but was out of position and Stephens pretty much tallied on a open net. The Junior Manatees players were announced before the game and dropped the puck prior to the game. They played a five-minute period of exhibition hockey in between the first and the second periods. In four home contests now a big guy has beat out a skinny chick in the dance for your dinner contest. I propose a change and that next time you use a big chick and skinny guy and see if it makes a difference. The concession people managed to find another Bud for me. (But wait! Theres more!)
Second PeriodScoring:
Penalties: Orlando pretty much just outworked and outplayed the Manatees for the second period. Miami only managed a paltry five shots on goal to Orlandos 15. Could someone please take a pair of scissors and cut the loose threads sticking up on the top of Mannys head? No, it is not giving him a Buckwheat appeal. Mandy was evidently off having an affair with Sealvester, as she was no where to be found.
Third PeriodScoring:
Penalties: Amazingly enough, the arena discovered two whole cases of Buds that they did not know they possessed. Now...what are the chances of that really happening? Manny did a better job but he was encouraging people to bang on the plexiglass. You all keep right on doing that until one of those sheets comes down and hurts someone. Make sure Manny has enough money to cover a lawsuite once that happens, because I believe he can be held responsible for promoting that sort of behavior. Whatever coach had to say to the Manatees during the intermission woke them up and they came back out and started playing with new spark plugs in place. The goal horn went off late on Perrys goal but it did go off. Scorecast lists the assist on Perrys goal as belonging to Orlandos Stephens. Somehow I didnt think hed enjoy the credit for it, so I didnt list it. Nowickis goal...great! We got a goal horn. We got goal music. Is it really asking too much to have them announce the assists on the HOME goals???? I realize they change them 15 or so times before the night is over, but this is really one of those game night aspects that needs to be worked on. Great goal at the very end...I dont think Dmitri even though it had gone in, but it was a flash from the blueline that just when right over Goverdes glove hand. Nice goal and a great way to put the Seals to bed for the night. Shots on goal: Orlando 7 15 8 30 Miami 15 5 14 34 Power-Play Conversions: Orlando, 0 for 2, Miami, 0 for 2
Goalies: A: 1,250 (Unofficial)
Referee: Galloway Mark Fischel called it pick-a-seat day in the Miami Arena, but honestly I think they drew better then they did at the last home games. There was about a dozen Seal fans in attendance, but the Jr. Manatees and their families really bumped up the warm body figure. The Panthers were playing at home tonight, so Eric and Hatty a few other fans were among the notably missing. Scorecast list the powerplay conversions as 0 for 6 for both teams, I dont count coincidental minors. Scorecast lists the officials as Mike Hughes, Derek Devino, & Eric Gibson, but thats not the Zebs shirts said. Stars of the game: They were announced as 1) Perrigone, 2) Nowicki and 3) Doulebenets; however, isnt it traditional to announce the third star first and work up to the first star of the game? Or are the Manatees just really backwards and Dmitri was really the first star of the game? I mean, without knowing who got all the assists, Id give the first star of the game to Dmitri for the game-winning goal plus an assist. (First place is USUALLY considered better then third place.) Jason Jersey Award to the fellow in section 107 who was wearing a Maine Black Bears Sweater. That was really like the last thing I expected to see tonight. Someone has got to tell the security guards to chill about herding people out the arena after a game. I mean, Im trying to buy merchandise and Ive six guys behind me going Can you hurry at up? Wed like to go home. No, I cant hurry that up and I dont really care where youd like to be. If I were getting paid by the hour, Id rather have people hang out. I seem to recall someone maybe it was Mark telling me that the season ticket holders would have a section where they could hang out and meet the players after the games and get autographs and the like. Except for the first game, Ive not seen that materialize. And with the D.A.K. guards getting everyone out as fast they possibly can, I cant imagine where thats ever going to materialize. ::sigh:: The Manatees take to the road to take on the Jacksonville Barracudas on Friday, and the Orlando Seals on Saturday. The next home game is December 13 against the Alabama Slammers.
