WHA2 announces Miami franchise move | ||
World Hockey Association 2 Press ReleaseCELEBRATION, Fla. - The World Hockey Association 2 (WHA2) today announced that the Miami Manatees will relocate to Central Florida."With the cancellation clause of the Miami Arena lease exercised, we had to find a new home for the Manatees." WHA2 Chairman of the Board David Waronker said. "We believe that the Central Florida area will welcome the Manatees and the move will also ease the travel burdens of the other five teams." The Miami Manatees games scheduled for this upcoming weekend will be rescheduled. The entire revised home schedule for the Manatees will be released soon. The WHA2 has six member teams for the 2003 - 2004 season: the Alabama Slammers, Jacksonville Barracudas, Lakeland Loggerheads, Macon Trax, Miami Manatees, and Orlando Seals.
