Miami Manatees Press ReleaseTonight�s Game: The Lakeland Loggerheads make the trip down to Miami to take on the Manatees tonight. This will be the second of three meetings in eight days, and the fourth meeting this season. The Manatees have defeated the Loggerheads twice this season, once at home and once on the road. Manatee Notes: The Manatees are climbing back up the WHA2 standings, having earned seven out of a possible eight points in their last four games. The Manatees have the best power-play at home (24.3%) in the WHA2, and the third best home penalty killing unit, killing off 26 of 33 shorthanded situations (78.8.1%). The Manatees PK unit has also scored the most short-handed goals in the league with five (3 at home). Overall, the Manatees PP unit is ranked fifth in the WHA2 (16.7%), and the PK unit is 3rd overall (79.8%). Eric Perricone and Oak Hewer are 3rd and 4th in WHA2 scoring with 26 and 25 points respectively. Perricone�s 12 goals places him 3rd in the WHA2, and his two short-handed points is tied for second with teammates Kevin Swider and Ryan Kiley. Kiley is 4th in the WHA2 with 78 penalty minutes. Perricone successfully converted the only penalty shot in the WHA2 this season, and along with Oak Hewer and Swider, is in the midst of an 7-game point scoring streak at home. Tom Perry is 2nd in the WHA2 in defensemen scoring with 16 points, and J.F. Picard is tied for 4th with 10 points. Perry is ranked second with 13 assists for defensemen, and is tied for 1st with a +12. Goaltender Sean Weaver is tied for 3rd in wins with five and third in saves made with 284. Mark Gowan is 4th in the WHA2 with a 3.44 GAA. Transactions: Center Todd Nowicki played his last professional hockey game last Saturday, as he recently was accepted into the police academy in Buffalo. Defenseman Dmitri Doulebenets has taken a leave of absence to return home to tend to a sick family member, and is expected back at a later date.
