Win by a score of 4-2Miami Manatees Press ReleaseThe Manatees ended the visiting Jacksonville Barracudas seven-game winning streak by defeating them 4-2 in front of 1,428 raucous fans at the Miami Arena. After a scoreless first period, the Manatees got out to a two-goal lead in the second period on goals from Eric Perricone and Kevin Swider, but the 'Cudas answered back on a goal from Mike Wirll to end the second period. In the third period, Zdnek Vanc got his first goal of the year when his wrist-shot from the top of the left circle eluded Jacksonville goaltender Brandon Snee. Perricone got called for interference at 14:04 of the third, and the 'Cudas applied the offensive pressure to draw the game close. On the power-play, Darren Cain forced a turnover behind the 'Cudas net and centered the puck to Ryan Kiley. Kiley's initial shot was turned aside, but as he was pushed to the ice, he got off a second shot that went over a sprawling Snee for a short-handed goal at 15:10. As time winded down in the game, the Manatees had two consecutive penalties which gave Jacksonville a 6-3 man advantage with Snee pulled from the nets. After allowing a goal to Chris Harper to get the score to 4-2, the Manatees held off the 'Cudas for the eventual win. Mark Gowan made his third consecutive start, stopping 34 of 36 shots in the win. Snee made 23 saves on 27 shots. With the win, the Manatees have gotten a point in every home game this season. The Manatees head to Lakeland Saturday night to take on the Loggerheads. Game time is 7:05. Manatees broadcaster Mark Fischel and Lakeland broadcaster Peter Jay will be doing a dual broadcast on IRN.FM.
