Manatees fall to Loggerheads, 4-3

Miami Manatees Press Release Miami - Despite Tom Perry's goal at 10:23 of the third period, which pulled the Manatees to within one goal of the Loggerheads, the Manatees were unable to come away with the win in front of 1,200 fans at the Lakeland Center. Oak Hewer scored a short-handed goal in the first period, but Lakeland scored four unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead through the third period. Miami came back in the third, with Hewer getting his second goal of the game, both assisted by Eric Perricone. Goaltender Mark Gowan played in his first game of the season, making 24 saves of 28 shots, while Loggerheads goalie, Tyler Murray, got his team's first win of the season by stopping 27 of 30 shots. The Manatees play in Jacksonville Saturday night, and then head to Orlando to take on the Seals Sunday. With the loss, the Manatees fall to 5-2-1 on the season. The Miami Manatees face off against the Alabama Slammers, Jacksonville Barracudas, Lakeland Loggerheads, Macon Trax, and Orlando Seals in the WHA2's inaugural season.
