Jr. Manatees wrap-up strong tourney weekend | ||
Miami Manatees Press ReleaseTaking a page from the WHA2 Miami Manatees, the Jr. Midget Manatees went undefeated in the second weekend of play in the Florida Amateur Hockey League.In their first game, the Jr. Manatees fought back to tie the game against the Glacier Ice Bears for the final score of 3-3. In the second game this weekend, the Manatees got down early by a goal to the Daytona Sharks, but fought back behind the strong play of goaltender Zach Harris, as he shut down the Sharks in the second and third period. Getting the goals for the Manatees was Shawn Matthewman and Matt Segall, while Brian Orlando added two goals. Notching assists in the game were Corey Berman, Josh Cohen, Zach Willis and Danny Rodriquez. Although the game was marred by numerous penalties committed by both teams, the Manatees emerged victorious by a score of 4-1. In Game three, Manatees goalie Zach Sandler stepped in and helped his team onto victory. Playing against the very disciplined Space Coast Hurricanes, the Manatees came storming out of the gates, getting a goal from Matt Segal with the assist from Brian Orlando. But the Hurricanes tied the score up with less than two minutes in the first, and the teams remained deadlocked until the Manatees Mike Smith scored the eventual game-winner. Scoring two insurance goals and sealing the victory for the Manatees was Erik Young and Shawn Matthewman. After this weekend�s game, the Jr. Manatees record improved to 2-3-1.
