Manatees enter the ice age | ||
Miami Manatees Press ReleaseOn Thursday, October 23rd the Miami Arena prepared to enter the ice age with the Miami Manatees. After an extended period of time without a sheet of ice in the building, the arena workers buzzed with excitement as the boards were installed, the glass was put in, and the freezing process started by flooding the rink floor.After an inch of ice was formed, the stencils for the logos were laid out and the outlines were visible, the crew proceeded to start the painting process. The lines, goal-creases and circles were also carefully painted on the ice. Late into the night the painting continued, and by Friday morning the complete ice surface was painted and completed. Several more layers of water was than sprayed over the logos, and the ice was deemed ready to skate on for the opening of training camp on Monday morning. The Miami Manatees will face off against the Alabama Slammers, Jacksonville Barracudas, Lakeland Loggerheads, Macon Trax, and Orlando Seals in the WHA2�s inaugural season.
