Manatees Coach Zac Boyer to Throw out First Pitch at Marlins Game

Miami Manatees Press Release MIAMI, Fla. � The Miami Manatees are pleased to announce that Head Coach Zac Boyer has been invited by the Florida Marlins to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the July 28th game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. �I am definitely excited.� Boyer said. �It is a tremendous honor to be asked by the Marlins. This is a real special thing to do in Miami and will be a great event for myself and our team.� �I will make it to the plate. It might be all over the place, but I will make it to the plate.� Boyer will be throwing out the ceremonial pitch at approximately 6:50 PM and the game will begin at 7:05 PM. The game will be broadcast with radio coverage on 560 WQAM and television coverage on FoxSportsNet. Manatees Sign Darcy Johnson Head Coach Boyer today announced the signing of forward Darcy Johnson, who was earlier acquired in a trade from the Orlando Seals for forward Joe Urbanik. �He is player that brings a lot of grit to the table and brings a lot of skill.� Boyer said. �He will be a huge physical presence for us and at times, he can dominate games. His goal is to play at the highest level possible.� Johnson had 12 goals and 22 assists for 34 points in 54 games with the Seals last season. He added another goal and an assist in the Seals six playoff games. A Native American hailing from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Johnson spent the 98-99 and 99-00 seasons playing in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, scoring 58 goals and 118 points, and accumulating 653 penalty minutes. In the 2001-2002 season, Boyer and Johnson played together in Colorado of the West Coast Hockey League, where Johnson scored nine points in 66 games. The Miami Manatees will face off against the Lakeland Loggerheads, Jacksonville Barracudas, Orlando Seals, Macon Trax, and a yet-to-be-named Central Alabama team in late October.
