Miami Manatees Press ReleaseMiami - The Miami Manatees have announced the signing of goaltender Mark Gowan.Gowan, 28, played 31 games last season with the Fresno Falcons. He compiled a record of 18 wins, 10 losses, and one tie, with a .900 save percentage and 3.08 GAA. Gowan is a great goalie who put up good numbers last year in Fresno. He is hybrid goaltender with a slightly unorthodox style, and he is able to take up a lot of the net. He also is a great guy to have in the locker room. Captain/Assistant Coach Tom Perry said. Gowan played for the Colorado Gold Kings in the 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 seasons, where he was a teammate of current Manatee players Tom Perry, Dmitri Doulebenets, Darcy Johnson, and Coach Zac Boyer. In 43 games with the Gold Kings, Gowan had a record of 20 wins, 13 losses, and four ties, with a 3.15 GAA and a .895 save percentage. We feel confident now with two solid goalies to give us a strong presence in the nets, and both will play their fair share of games for us this season. The Miami Manatees play in the Miami Arena as part of the six-team WHA2. The Miami Manatees will face off against the Alabama Slammers, Jacksonville Barracudas, Lakeland Loggerheads, Macon Trax, and Orlando Seals in the WHA2s inaugural season.
