No holiday spirit: Manatees bury Loggerheads, 5-2

LAKELAND, Fla. � The Lakeland Loggerheads played their last game before the holiday break, hosting the Miami Manatees at the Lakeland Center before a crowd of more than 1,400 fans.

The Miami Manatees started the scoring early when Dan Donnette netted the first goal of the night less than seven minutes into the first period. The Manatees extended their lead when Ryan Kiley slipped the puck past Lakeland netminder Tyler Murray at 17:14 to end the first period.

Loggerhead Jim Callahan opened the second period when he wristed the puck past Gowan to close the gap to 2-1. Only 3 minutes later, Matt Junkins tied it up on a pass from Seroski and Peck.

Miami took the lead back only six seconds later with the game winning goal, scored by Trevor Sochulutuk. Sixteen minutes into the second stanza Nowicki again extended Miami�s lead to two goals. The teams headed to the dressing room for the second intermission with the score 4-2.

Donnette scored his second goal of the night to finish out the scoring at 5-2 with the Loggerheads losing a heartbreaker on home ice.

The Lakeland Loggerheads next home game with be on Saturday, December 27th when the host the Orlando Seals. The Loggerheads will also face the Alabama Slammers, Jacksonville Barracudas and the Macon Trax in the WHA2�s inaugural season. All games will be broadcast on www.irn.fm.
