The Florida Everblades released forward Kevin Swider on Wednesday hours before they boarded a bus bound for Augusta, Ga., the site of Friday night's first of three road games.

Swider, who was loaned to the team last Friday by the WHA2's Miami Manatees, made a good impression on Florida head coach Gerry Fleming and team president/general manager Craig Brush in his three ECHL games, but asked to be sent back to his team.

"It was his decision. He wanted to stay committed to his team," Fleming said of Swider, who scored a goal and assisted on three others to help the Blades go 2-0-1 on their recent homestand.

"He was their best player and had been with them all season. He helped us considerably while he was here and we wish him the best."

Fleming couldn't confirm whether or not the team will try to add another forward while on the road. Florida's next home game is Feb. 27 against Columbus.
