Miami scores four first-period goals.From Times-Union staffGreg LeColst scored his third hat trick as a Manatee, and Miami defeated the Jacksonville Barracudas 6-2 in a minor-league hockey game in front of 791 at Miami Arena on Sunday night. With the victory, the Manatees (20-12-3, 43 points) moved into a second-place tie with Orlando in the WHA2. First-place Jacksonville (24-11-1) has 49 points. The Manatees put the game away with four first-period goals. Tom Kotsopoulous started the Manatees' scoring binge at 5:33 off a two-man breakaway with Darcy Johnson. LeColst scored his first goal at 10:28 for a 2-0 lead. The Barracudas closed to 2-1 on a goal by Lyle Steenbergen at 13:03, but the Manatees answered with goals by LeColst and Zdnek Vanc during a 76-second span. After a scoreless second period, Jacksonville closed to 4-2 on a goal by Brett Strot at 4:57. Oak Hewer and LeColst completed the Manatees' scoring. Manatees goalie Sean Harvey made 26 saves for his 10th victory of the season. Jacksonville's Randy Hevey made 31 saves.
