Manatees roll to seventh victory in row | ||
From Herald Staff and Wire ReportsThe Miami Manatees, the hottest team in WHA2, extended their winning streak to seven games as they defeated the host Macon (Ga.) Trax 4-1 on Thursday.Zdnek Vanc, Tom Perry, Kevin Swider and Josh Liebenow each scored as the Manatees overcame an early 1-0 deficit. Miami (18-10-3), which faces Macon (13-13-3) again tonight, is firmly in second place in the WHA2, two points behind the Jacksonville Barracudas. The Manatees visit the Barracudas on Saturday. Macon's David Deeves scored with 12 minutes 4 seconds left in the first period. But the Manatees came back at the 15:01 mark when Vanc picked up the puck at the right circle in the Trax zone. Vanc centered it through the crease, where Tom Perry knocked it past goaltender Geoff Faulkner. Swider scored a few minutes later, and the Manatees never looked back.
