All-Stars full of Manatees

Hockey stick - Don't get Checked!

From Herald Wire Services

The first WHA2 All-Star Game will have a decidedly Miami Manatees feel to the event. The WHA2 announced that five members of the Manatees will take part in the All-Star Game on Jan. 27 in Jacksonville.

Right wing Oak Hewer has been named a starter, and left wing Kevin Swider and defenseman Tom Perry are also on the team. Manatees coach Zac Boyer will serve as an assistant, and Danielle Henry will be the trainer.

Hewer leads the Manatees in scoring with 14 goals and 37 points and is second in the WHA2 in points. Swider is second in team scoring with 25 points and is tied for ninth in overall scoring in the league.

"It is an honor for these players to represent the Miami Manatees in the All-Star Game, and their accomplishments earned them their spot. It is also an honor for me and athletic trainer Danielle Henry to be a part of the festivities in Jacksonville," Boyer said.

The WHA2 All-Star Game pits the Jacksonville Barracudas against the league All-Stars. The game will take place at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

SCHEDULING CHANGE

The Manatees' home game against the Macon Trax has been moved to Feb. 14.

"We felt that moving this game to Valentines Day will give our fans an opportunity to have a romantic night out at the Manatees game." GM Shawn Thorimbert said.

"We also know that there are a lot of single people out there who are looking for something to do on Valentines Day."
