Vodadumb

bored out of my head and annoyed at the fact that Vodafone is contributing to retarding the world, I decided to write the following statement and send it to them. If your wondering why im making such a big deal out of this, check out Skate not Sk8.

This is not really a question, more a statement.

I am a loyal customer of Vodafone, I sometimes recieve messages from Vodafone, like the one I got today, informing me about deals on Vodafone Red sim.

Anyhow, I am bothered by the way you are abbreviating these messages, the following words where abbreviated, Message (Msg), you (u), Text (TXT (it occured to me that TXT could be some name that you refer to text messages as, if this is so, disregard this as an abbreviation)), your (yr).

I understand there are marketing strategies and you are appealing to the younger generation of mobile phone users, which I am sure are the target market for mobile phone companies, I am guessing this is why you send your messages like this, as it appeals to younger people.

If you where to write these abbreviated words in full, the message would still stay in the 160 character limit. Im going out on a limb here in assuming that you dont have people working for you who write out these messages and send them to people personally, and so you must bulk send these messages, and so if my assumptions are correct (or close) I dont see the point in abbreviating words that dont especially need it.

I feel though that you should be setting an example for young people, because if these abbreviations continue to replace proper words, people will start using them all the time, they will replace the normal way of spelling. This will affect people in every aspect of communication (excepting text and internet chatrooms where this ugly form of writing is spawned) thereby making people harder to communicate with, students at elementary and high schools (your target market) will be using this obscene form of writing in essay's and reports, causing them to fail.

Young people are our future, and I feel that this perverse form of communication should be stopped. Hopefully you will have some influence on people, I can only hope for the educational sake of people everywhere that this influence is stronger than the urge to be lazy in everyone.

Ofcourse I can understand that making money is more important than the educational wellbeing of everyone who speaks the english language and so I understand that you will probably disregard this message, cngrats on rtarding evry1 - if thats clear enough for you.

Dear Helen/Vodafone, Thank you very much for your speedy response and politeness, I must ask if you could keep me posted on any decisions that are made in regards to the comments/suggestions I have made.

Dear Kane

Thank you for your reply.

Although we have forwarded your feedback we can not guarantee that the contents of the TXT will be changed as this is the general format that is practiced by TXT users. We can ensure that your feedback will be collated and recorded for future re-call and available forreports when required.

Please advise us if you do not wish to receive promotion TXT in the future, due to the format these are being sent in, so we can prevent them from being sent to you.

Dear Helen/Vodafone

I am sorry to hear that the contents of promotional text most likely will not be changed to suit myself. Your last response, although helpful, does not answer my question, I wish to know if I can be told 'any' decisions made in regards to the comments/suggestions I have made, whether they are as insignificant as somebody turning up their nose at my comments, or changing the whole system of promotional text messages. In other words, I am not interested in possible outcomes, but definite outcomes. To put this in a way you might understand - can I hear wat u dfntly thnk bout wat I sed b4. Please, think of the children.

Regards

Kane Merritt

Dear kane

Vodafone appreciate your feedback, we can advise that Vodafone has made a business decision to continue with the current TXT format and we can not forsee any changes to the format in the near future.

Whilst this may not be the response you were seeking we trust that it clarifies Vodafones position in relation to this matter.

Figures why thatFucking Bitch spelt my name with a lowercase k, They cant even spell their own companies name properly. Just goes to show why Vodafone is retarding the nation, they are obviously retarded themselves. They cannot understand simple requests (even when they are put in their own 'language') and are never definite about anything. Anyway, if you feel the need send these fuckers a message, and stop them retarding everybody. Kane - with a capital k.

Vodafone, retarding the world
