The Quest For Balance and Chaos
Chapter 2
*KoN finally started to relax. The forest was a lush and brilliant green. The sun trickling through the leaves and branches made everything have a sunlight green tint. The voices of birds were creating a natural symphony. The air was still a bit cold and crisp. KoN lost track of time. He reached the end of the path. A wooden hut stood in the middle of the forest. KoN walked up to it. On closer inspection it seemed as if the hut had grown and was not made! KoN knocked at the door. There was no response. He pushed at the door. His hands stuck tot he door. He tried to pull his hands away, but vines started growing and wrapped around his arms. "Looks like I'll be here awhile." he thought. KoN took the time to examine the area around him. The hut was not in a clearing. In fact, it seemed as if there wasn't a clearing in the whole forest. KoN thought back to when he was walking. He couldn't remember the whole path, but the trees seemed to be everywhere. The same with the animals. KoN noticed that the trees seemed the oldest around the hut. The light from the sun was dimming again. "How long have I been here?!?" KoN wondered. Out of the corner of his eye, KoN saw a figure approaching. As it neared, KoN could make out the outline of a humanoid wearing a hooded cloak and pants. The figure pulled back the hood to reveal a man's face. He had reddish-brown hair and his face was cleanly shaven. One eye was brown, the other was green. The man spoke.*
Man: "What are you doing in my forest and why did you try to get into my house?"
KoN: "I wandered in to this forest after I left RI City. I tried to enter your house because I was interested in it and I needed some rest. Now who ar--"
Man: "One second...[The man tilted his head as if listening to something floating through the wind.] Yes, you entered the forest from the direction that RI is. You also did examine my house, and didn't ruin anything. But you were here for a day and a half...Hmm. My name is Rexall. I am a druid and a ranger. I live in this forest and am its protector. And who may you be?"
KoN: "I am called KnightofNEE. I was sent here by the avatar of neutrality, Waok..."
Rexall: "That explains everything. I've heard tales of you...or should I say about you and Waok. And I think I know what you were doing in RI."
KoN: "You seem to know a lot.."
Rexall: "Only what the forest knows."
KoN: "Ah..that explains it, of course you would. Hmm..but I can't quite remember this forest..."
Flashback
*KoN seemed to be the only man on the battlefield. All else had fled, as KoN soon found out, because the leaders had killed each other simultaneously. Their swords lay by their headless bodies. The bodies still had blood trickling from their veins and the swords were still wet with blood. It seemed as if KoN would never learn about the battle. KoN was about to walk away, but the swords caught his eye. He walked over and picked one up and sheathed it. He carried the other. He looked around the battlefield. A ways away was a forest. KoN started walking towards it. The battlefield was eerily silent. It seemed as if KoN was the only life for miles around.*
Real World
KoN: "...Yes I remember the forest now."
Rexall: "The forest remembers you...and Waok. It's not often an avatar visits the world. When he arrived here he altered the forest a bit...which in turn affected me a bit when I inhabited it."
KoN: "I guess this means you'll help me?"
Rexall: "Yes and no, I will join you later, after you have journeyed though this world and had others join you."
KoN: "Fine, At least can you help me in one way right now?"
Rexall: "And that would be...?"
KoN: "Can you please let me go?"
*Rexall chuckled and waved his hand. The vines receded and KoN's hands became unstuck.*
KoN: "Thank you, and now to continue my journey..."
Rexall: Good luck. I shall see you again, I know this much. Oh, something for your journey.."
*Rexall entered his hut and grabbed some things. He exited and gave them to KoN.*
Rexall: "A couple of healing items, a tanglebrush, some food and drink, and a couple of other items that you'll find some use for."
*KoN thanked Rexall and continued in the direction he was previously heading.*
