| The police cannot help EVERY missing child. Some misssing children will never have their picture on the back of a milk carton. Why? There are plenty of child advocacy groups with the resources to help find these children. A lot of people are under the assumption that if the police are called, a missing persons report will be filed. This is not always true. If there are no existing custody papers, the police call it DOMESTIC, wish you luck, and tell you to have a nice day. |
| The System at it's best??? The abduction of Bryan and Dwayne Ferrell could have been avoided! When first deserted by Daniel Ferrell in 1984, I searched tried to obtain custody through legal aid...Legal aid does not like to handle custody issues.Not everyone gets the house, car, and a pile of money... I know that I wound up "in the system" with 2 boys, a pile of unpaid bills, no car, and a "dead-beat dad" who skipped state to state, in order to avoid paying child support.What if assistance would have assisted me with obtaining temporary custody??? |

| DHHR : children/youth services of West Virginia What is it these people are being funded for, if not to protect children??? After filing several complaints against Joyce Ferrell for abuse against Dwayne Ferrell, , one would assume that DHHR might step in...instead, they lie to me (telling me they know nothing about these boys...even though I have copies of reports dating back to as far as 2002) I have been trying to get help with this issue for almost 7 years now..and going through this report again, is not an easy thing! Below are statements from intake worksheets: Child shows effects of maltreatment. Child is fearful of home situation Dwayne appeared sad...almost like he was going to cry. reporter seen Dwayne yesterday-he seemed hungry. grandmother seems to target Dwayne by: not letting him eat hot breakfast at school, does not want him going out for recess with the other children, will not allow Dwayne go on any field activities (activities are at no cost) He is stealing food at school He asked his teacher to adopt him Interview with one of Dwayne's teachers says: she and the janitor would feed him peanut butter sandwhiches. His cousin, Martika, that lives in the same house, is bringing in snacks for the whole class...that he is never allowed to do this... The teacher then says that she feels the grandmother is unreasonable...and somewhat off the wall. I have had to stop many times while typing this.... all I keep seeing is my son malnurished and hungry...when these people have the food to provide! |
