Cirque of the Towers from Dickinson Park
July 2002

After climbing at Wild Iris for two days me and Kate had planned on doing a backpack trip to the Cirque of the Towers.  I had been wanting to see the cirque for several years since barely missing it on my first trip, and I also wanted to scout it out for future climbs.  The approach to Dickinson Park was very long and involved nearly 2 hours of slow driving on poor dirt roads on the Wind River Indian Reservation.   The trailhead didn't see as much use as the one on the western side since it involved both a longer driving approach as well as distance from the trailhead.  The trail followed the deep valley of the East Fork of the Popo Agie River for most of its length, and 1 of the 3 river crossings was a little scary.  On the way out the sky was filled with smoke from a wildfire on the Indian reservation.
