Gingerbread Cookies
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup butter
2 tbs dark corn syrup
2 tsp ground ginger
2 tsp ground cloves
3 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup water
2 1/2 cups flour

Combine sugars, butter and corn syrup in 2 quart saucepan. Stir over low heat until butter is melted. Stir in ginger, cloves and cinnamon. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Dissolve baking soda in the water and stir into mixture. Add flour and mix well. Dough will be quite soft. Shape into a roll, wrap well and chill. Roll out dough 1/8 " thick on floured surface. Cut out and bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 325 for 10 minutes or until brown. Cool completely before icing.

ICING:
Beat 2 1/2 cups confectioners sugar and 3 tbs milk with a wire wisk for 2 minutes. Decorate cookies as desired. (You may add food coloring to the icing.)
