Caramel Candy Bars
These are YUMMY and easy to make. They will be gone fast so make sure you save some for yourself.
BASE AND TOPPING

1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 cups butter, softened
1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
1 cup crisp rice cereal
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

FILLING

35 vanilla caramels, unwrapped
1/3 cup milk

Topping

1 (14-oz)pkg. red & green M&Ms


1. Heat oven to 350 F. Spray 13x9 inch pan with nonstick cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine brown sugar and butter; beat until smooth. Stir in oats and cereal. Add flour, soda and salt; mix until well blended. Reserve 3 cups of oat mixture for topping. Press remaining mixture in bottom of pan. Bake at 350 for
10 minutes.
2. In small saucepan, combine caramels and milk; heat over low heat until caramels are melted and mixture is smooth, stirring consistently.
3. Remove base from oven. Sprinkle with 1 cup of M&Ms. Drizzle with caramel mixture, being careful not to let caramel touch the sides of the pan. Drop reserved mixture by heaping teaspoonfuls over caramel mixture. Sprinkle with remaining M&Ms.
4. Return to oven for 20 - 24 minutes or until center is set and top is golden brown.Cool 1 hour or until completely cooled. Cut into bars.
Yield 32 bars
