| 4/25/06: My trial transfer and sonohystogram were today. The procedures were supposed to be last week, but AF decided to make a brief re-appearance after my bout with the stomach flu. All went well today. Except....OUCH!! Why didn't someone warn me that it hurt? I made it through though and the doc says everything looks okay. IVF Ed. Day got moved to 5/2/06 and is getting moved again to 5/4/06 because our "favorite doctor" decided to take off the day we're supposed to do Ed. Day. Guess it's a blessing in disguise since neither of us really wants to deal with him any more than we have to. A preliminary schedule puts me starting my Lupron shots on May 19th and the Repronex shots on May 29th. Possible retrieval on June 10th and tranfer on June 13th. At any rate, we'll know something for sure by the end of June. And let me just add ~ I hate Seasonale!! I'm moody, my boobs hurt and I'm nauseous. Unfortunately, I won't be on it long enough to get over the side effects. Ugh. Only another month of them.... 5/15/06: IVF Ed. day came and went. It was informative for the most part. Looks like from their 2004 statistics, we have a 48% chance of getting pregnant! YAY!! And for my age, a 20% chance of twins and 5% chance of triplets. The countdown is on until the shots begin! My medications are ordered and I will pick them up from our new Supercenter Wal-Mart on Wednesday the 17th. Only 4 more days and I start the Lupron shots. I'm getting along a little bit better with the Seasonale. LOL I still get moody and my boobs still hurt. At least the nauseousness went away. If I'm going to be nauseous, I'd much rather it be from being pregnant. That nausea I can handle. :) 5/19/06: Started the Lupron today. It is a sub-q shot that I'm determined to give to myself. It wasn't as bad as I thought. Shew!! Last day of Seasonale will be 5/23/06. 5/25/06: AF arrived today. Hopefully the last one for another year!! 5/29/06: Ultrasound (U/S) and bloodwork (B/W) today. U/S showed 16 follicles on the right ovary and 14 follicles on the left ovary!! YIKES! Wonder if that's indicative of how many for the retrieval? B/W okay and Repronex (150 iu's - 2 vials) begins tonight. 6/2/06: B/W today. Estrogen (E2) was 134. So, Repronex is being upped to 3 vials (225 iu's) for tonight and tomorrow. 6/4/06: U/S and B/W today. U/S showed 3 follicles on each side measuring around 10mm. E2 was 207. So, we're staying at the 3 vials of Repronex for tonight and tomorrow. Switching injection site to my arms because my hips are killing me!! 6/6/06: Not an evil day today!! U/S and B/W today. (I'm a walking pin-cushion!) Doc was measuring and measuring and measuring. When I asked him how many follicles, he said "Oh, about 20." YIKES!! E2 was 641. 3 vials of Repronex for tonight and 2 for tomorrow. 6/8/06: U/S & B/W today. U/S still showed lots of follicles. Doc thinks I need a few more days on the Repronex. E2 was 1268. Staying at 2 vials of Repronex for tonight. 6/9/06: U/S & B/W today. Doc says at least one more day of Repronex to make sure the follicles are nice & ready. E2 was 1851. So, 2 vials of Repronex tonight. 6/10/06: U/S & B/W today. Myke was able to go with me, so he was jotting all the numbers down that the doc was telling the nurse as he was measuring. There were 43 measurable follicles!! Of those ~ 20 were over 16mm. (Doc says they consider a 16mm follicle to contain a mature egg.) And 10 were between 14-15.5mm, so they will probably be mature by retrieval time. E2 was 3300!! HCG shot tonight and ER (egg retrieval) set for 6/12/06. 6/12/06: ER was horrific!! After talking to the nurse in the evening, I found out that my left ovary was behind my uterus, so they had to go in through a uterine muscle to get to it. OUCH! No wonder it hurt so much. She said she gave me the maximum amout of pain medication she could during the procedure. It took me longer in recovery because of that. I came home and rested on the couch upstairs the rest of the day. They ended up retrieving 36 eggs!! 6/13/06: Fertilization report!! Of the 36 eggs, 27 were mature. And 24 fertilized with the ICSI!! 7 were automatically frozen due to the high number of fertilized eggs that we have. So, 17 are still growing in their dishes. Embryo transfer (ET) should be 6/15 or 6/17. What a great Father's Day present that would be to give Myke - a BFP in 2 weeks!! 6/15/06: Fertilizaton update!! Of the 17 "babies" still growing - 11 made it to 8-cells (where they should be for day 3). The protocol is that if 5 or more embryos are at 8-cell on day 3, they continue to let them grow to blastocyst and then transfer. This is their selection tool so that the best ones are transferred. So, our ET is 6/17/06. The day before Father's Day. |
