ALL ABOUT THE NEW RAMP MAMA
Skateboarding
has been a part of my life for about 12 or 13 years now. 狢 can't remember
exactly how old I was the first time I stepped on a board just but I can
remember how fun it was.
My friend had been given a plastic banana board. We took it in turns
to roll down his pathway. 硓irst try I fell off after one paving stone
but soon I was rolling over 2-3! 狢'm not sure which one of us got round
the bend in his path first but it was probably him, after all he had been
given the board 24 hours before I went to visit.
Ever since then I have been a skater. 瓱y friend and I spent about 2-3 years bum boarding, racing down hills and generally messing about. 𤪻nce we went to our favourite slope and there was a kid there doing tic tac. 狢 remember feeling amazed and said to my friend 'I'll never be able to do that'. 硓unny thing was I really meant it. 狢t's different now kids expect to be able to kickflip right away, the awe and amazement factor doesn't seem to exist any more.
I did learn to tic tak and I learned to acid drop and also do little powerslides.
That's all I learned though in those first 3 years, it wasn't about
tricks it was about
fun.
I quit for various reasons, and had my daughter. When she was about 2 I started skating again. This time I decided to skate 'properly'. 狢 stopped having fun really, I became so hung up about who was better than who and what tricks I HAD to learn. 狢 skated for 3 years and learned a few tricks. 狢 also managed to acquire several serious injuries. 賫ote to anyone who reads this; Don't try something because you think you should, do it because you want to and are ready. 狢 stopped again when I found out I was expecting my son.
When he was about 1 I started skating again. This time age and maturity
(ha ha ha) made me enjoy skating skating.
That was about 2 years ago now and I try to skate at least 3 times a week.
