THE SHOW
I wish Kandace the best of luck in the 2001 Miss Universe pageant from Puerto Rico! I know she will do great and maybe USA will have their 8th crown.
Miss USA started a new era of pageantry with it's new format and techno music! I wasn't too impress with the format in the first 5 minutes but has the show went on I started to enjoy it! First of all having a musical guest in the beginning is very boring and has many of you, I was excited about the pageant so it was the last thing I wanted to see! Second, 2 seconds per delegate is not enough, and what's with filming the delegates before! I like the stage presentation way better. I like the fact that they announced the top 10 before commercial break! The host was OK, I don't have anything against him but he wasn't memorable either. For the first time since 1997, Ali Landry and Julie Moran weren't the co-host for the show, instead they had Vanessa Minnilo and Tommy Davidson. After this I really want Ali and Julie back, they gave their opinions about the girls and that is what the co-host should do. Instead the co-host basically laughed at the pageant system in general passing them has beautiful girls with no brain! The stage was fantastic, I love the runway. All the girls were fantastic on the runway and thank god for Jay Alexander for showing them how :) I tried something new, I noticed that the best pageants are from 1998 and I didn't have the Internet then to view all the pictures, so I didn't have favorites! So this year I didn't view any pictures for this pageant and it was not better, so I will be back with my scoring system for Miss Universe 2001.

Even if I didn't want to see musical guest, I must say that their songs wee very good! But the country singers could have been change with a popular ban like Destiny's Child or something like that.

I didn't look at any pictures so I was pretty much satisfied with the top 10, but during the opening number, I saw numerous girls that could have made it! First of all there was Colorado- Katie Dolland, the 1998 Miss Teen USA top 10 finalist! South Carolina was very beautiful and was close of the top 10 for sure! California was gorgeous, and New Jersey had an exotic look!
The swimsuit portion was very long but they combined the little fashion show from Miss Univese and Miss Teen USA 2000 in this, so it was worth it! The suimsuits were provided by bikiny.com.

All the girls looked fantastic! Way better bodies than last year! Oklahoma was one of the strongest but her being first gave her bad scores! Texas and Nevada were the 2 girls with a very toned body. Missouri was the best in this competition and her scores showed, she sure knows how to walk has they say she can walk the walk but later on she showed us she can't talk the talk.... In my opinion, Georgia went a little overboard  with the walking but the judges didn't think so!
WOW, they sure changed this portion! The music was fast and very informal! Some of them used the  modeling walks for this portion while others use the traditional walk! Personally they were both fine if the girls knew how to use them, like Missouri!

This is my favorite part of the competition. All the girls had unique and fabulous gowns, my favorites are Texas, Nevada and Tennessee! Nevada was gorgeous, that color is perfect for her! It made her look very tall! I laugh so hard when I saw Oregon, that gown was worst than Jamaica in Miss Universe 1999. She is a beautiful girl but she should have wore another gown. I think white would be the perfect color for her! I didn't really like Missouri's gown but she sure can walk so she deserves the high score!
Final thoughts on top 10
After the 2 competitions, Missouri was my favorite for the crown followed closely by Texas and Nevada! Tennessee was gorgeous but her low evening gown score cost her chance at the crown (I didn't agree with that score)!

I was so glad to see that they brought the judge's questions back! Well the questions were different than usual and I think some of them could have been more general to give the girls a better chance of answering! Nevada was first and she gave short answered without saying why she chose those answers. Second was Missouri, those questions kill her chance at the crown, I am sure she is very intelligent but has she said she is not a sports person so how should she know what the media does to sports. But I must admit the second question was well said, but she could have found a woman in sports! A lot of them are in the news quite often so anybody could have a favorite! With the pressure of the competition and messing up the first answer may have put her off track.
Texas was really funny and she sounds very intelligent. The question about imitating her mother was the great! District of Columbia was great and could be a good Miss USA! The question about what would have liked to lean in school is very hard!!!! I can' believe they asked that cause if you didn't learn it how can you know about it??? Georgia was the last girls and she was glad to have picked Martha. She was great and she says that family should be our role models!
The top 3 were fantastic! All 3 girls deserved the crown but only one can win! The final question was very simple, but the best answer rise on top! DC didn't say why she doesn't support cloning, so her answer wasn't complete. Texas was the best out of the 3, she against cloning and she said it was because things happens for a reason, which is so true! Georgia was also against but she had a hard time expressing herself and what does she mean but thinking about one and not about so many others??
