The Christmas Dragon

I awoke one morning as a noise I had heard,
I jumped out of bed without saying a word.
Out to the porch I went and what did I see,
A little green dragon had fallen from the tree.

I notice the corner of his wing had been torn,
He had tears in his eyes and looked so forlorn.
With wonder he looked at me stared at the sky,
And said "oohs Lord why can't I fly?

"I am the Christmas Dragon Santa has sent,
Oh but how can I fly with wings torn and bent"?
Santa has sent me to watch over all girls and boys,
Who delight in receiving Christmas toys"?

"I said I'll take you in and your wing I'll mend,
We'll get you flying once again my friend".
"But I've lost my courage he replied and wept,
There'll be many sad faces I'd feel such regret".

I patched his wing and wrapped it up tight,
We sat and talked and laughed with delight.
"With your love and care my courage returns,
I must get my list to Santa, a lesson I've learned.

Although there are people who are bad and mean,
There are always those who take time to lean.
And help those who've fallen and grown weary,
In life along the way there are Christmas Fairies.
