Blue Angel

A Grandmothers Story

While walking in the park this sunny day,

I saw people walking dog's and children at play.

The sky was bluer than blue not a cloud in sight,

I notice a little girl on a bench her arms folded tight.

I looked at her closely as I was passing by,

She'd been crying there were tears in her eyes.

As I approached her she hung her head low,

I asked if I could help she said "oh no".

I asked if someone was here with you,

You seem to be so lonely and oh so blue.

I told her I was lonely and a Grandmother too,

And that they moved away and it made me blue.

She looked at me with a puzzling smile,

And said you can be my Granny for a while.

What does your mother do to leave you here,

She works at the ice cream stand just over there.

We chatted and giggled watched people go by,

At dusk I looked up a familiar face caught my eye.

She looked at me with surprise and a smile,

To my amazement the little blue angel was my Grandchild.
