Ken wrote this report about Beth when he was 15 years old for a Biology project. Needlees to say he made a 100 on this one. I hope it touches everyone that reads it as much as it touched me.
I have a sister with Down Syndrome. I've had people call her some really nasty stuff. I've had people wish they didn't call her tht stuff when I found out about it. It hurts when people say stuff like that, they will pay in the long run. I love my sister and would not trade her for anything else. She has taught me to be strong, and I admire her for that. My family like other families have stuggled before, but my life would not be complete without her. She has touched the hearts of all our lives. She has always been there when I need someone. I talk to her about problems and she seems to understand. I know she understands
Lots of people are uncomfortable when they are around my sister. With her having Down syndrome, I guess they don't know what to expect. After a short period of time, the persons settles down and relizes she is fun to be around.
Children with Down Syndrome have alot of stuff in common, but they are also different in their own way. My sister loves to eat pizza more than anything. While her friend (which also has Down Syndrome) loves to play baseball. In fact, he plays on a recreational team in Carrollton. It is amazing how the other boys "normal boys" are always trying to help him, and help him do what he has always wanted to do...play baseball.
I believe Down Syndrome childen are the toughest of all children. My sister would get mad before she would cry. They are pretty strong to. I've grown afraid of my sister. If I don't watch it, she'll beat me up.
Down Syndrome children have a very good memory. One they learn something they will never forget it. My sister can tell you how to get to my grandparents house (125 miles away) without messing up one time. In 1993 my family went out west to the Grand Canyon. Even though it was three years ago my sister still remembers what it looks like. she can idenitfy it in a book or on  television. She has also memorized a great number of movies from start to finish.
Although I spent a great deal of time writing about my sister you get the general idea of how Down Syndrome children are. It seems funny but when you get a few Down Syndrome Children around each other they seem to be in their own little world. They are so peaceful, with not a worry in the world.
