Biography

Highlights:
Doug won the AL Gold Glove at 1B in 2001.
Mientkiewicz was on the U.S. Olympic team when they won the gold medal at the 2000 games in Sydney, hitting the game-winning home-run against South Korea in the semi-finals.

Lowlights:
Doug hit just .246 in his final season with the Twins in 2004.
Doug had more caught stealing (13) than steals (11) for his career!

Mediumlights:
Doug is one of the few major leaguers to not wear batting gloves.

Personal:
Doug is married with one son. He loves to fish and his favorite movie is Field of Dreams.
