DENNY HOCKING

is hereby inducted into the

Minnesota Assembly of Mediocre Athletes Hall of Fame

on this 29th day of February, 2004

Looking back over his 11 year career with the Twins, Denny will best be remembered for... uh, well... OK - we really don't remember much about his career either. That should be no surprise, since most of his time was during the forgettable 1990's that brought the Twins to the verge of contraction. Like the rest of the team, Denny managed to survive those years and got a taste of the playoffs as a utility man for the resurgent young Twins of the early 2000's, ensuring that in the Halls of MAMA he will never be forgotten.

Biography

Highlights:
Denny went 3-6 with a double and an RBI in the 2002 ALDS win over Oakland!

Lowlights:
In the celebration following the 2002 ALDS victory over Oakland, Denny broke his hand forcing him to miss the entire 2002 American League Championship Series.

Mediumlights:
Denny had at least 40 ABs at 7 different defensive positions (SS, 2B, 3B, RF, LF, 1B, CF).

Personal:
Wife Venetta (Dorlis), twin daughters Penelope and Iliana (12/29/99) and son Jarrod (10/03).
In 2000, Hocking's wife gave birth to fraternal twins, making him the first player in Twins franchise history to become the father of a set of twins. When someone mentioned the fact to him, he responded, "At least I don't play for the Sixers!"
2000 recipient of of the Carl R. Pohlad Award recognizing outstanding community service throughout the Upper Midwest.
Designates time and effort in support of the Children's Hospital Cancer Kids Fund.
