GREG GAGNE

is hereby inducted into the

Minnesota Assembly of Mediocre Athletes Hall of Fame

on this 29th day of February, 2004

Not to be confused with the wrestler with the same (written) name, Greg anchored the Twins' infield for ten steady years, contributing to two World Series championships along the way. Unlike his more renowned teammates like Hrbek and Puckett, Greg rarely was in the spotlight but was counted on for strong defense and an ocassional big hit. While his bat was streaky, his defense was steady and often spectacular, earning him placement in the MAMA Hall of Fame.

Biography

Highlights:
Greg had 76 straight errorless games in 1991, a Twins record for SS.
Greg was the starting SS and a key part of both the 87 and 91 Twins World Series Championship Teams.
Honorable mention on the Twins All Time Team at The Baseball Page.
Greg was the last player to hit 2 inside-the-park-homeruns in the same game and is tied for the all time record in that category according to The Baseball Almanac.

Lowlights:
Greg had more strikeouts (110) than hits (109) in 1988!
Greg's OBP never topped .310!
Greg had more caught stealing (7) than steals (6) in 1992!

Mediumlights:
Greg hit .213 with 4 HR and 10 RBIs in his Twins post season career.

Personal:
He currently lives in Somerset, Massachusetts and is the head baseball coach at Bishop Feehan High School.
