In recognition of his mediocre contribution to Minnesota sports

MILES TARVER

is hereby inducted into the

Minnesota Assembly of Mediocre Athletes Hall of Fame

on this 29th day of February, 2000

Miles went from goat, to fan favorite, and back to goat during his career with the Gophers. As a role player on the (make-believe) Gophers' 1997 Final Four Team, Miles added a sense of toughness off the bench, but made every uncontested layup an adventure. As his playing time increased over the years, Miles gained appreciation from fans for his hard-nosed play and solid rebounding, even though he remained an offensive liability. Finally, Miles' college career came to an end as part of the Jan Gangelhoff scandal, erasing what had been the high point in Gopher Basketball history.
