In recognition of his mediocre contribution to Minnesota sports
SCOTT ERICKSONis hereby inducted into theMinnesota Assembly of Mediocre Athletes Hall of Fameon this 29th day of February, 2000
Scott's road to mediocre status had as many hills and valleys as any MAMA inductee. Scott started his career with three surly but solid years that had Twins fans confident he'd be the cornerstone of their pitching staff for years to come, including a 20-win season in 1991 where he helped the Twins gain a World Championship. Then suddenly his career took a dramatic downturn as he followed with three horrible years, including a League-worst 19 losses in 1993. Through it all, Scott compiled an incredibly mediocre record of 61-60 with the Twins, and perhaps better than any other player typifies both the highs of the Twins during the brief shining moments in the late 80's/early 90's and the lows of the cellar-dwellers that Minnesotans have come to expect since.
