In recognition of his mediocre contribution to Minnesota sports HERSCHEL WALKER is hereby inducted into the Minnesota Assembly of Mediocre Athletes Hall of Fame on this 29th day of February, 1996 Viking fans don't know the real Herschel Walker. Herschel Walker is a dedicated man who works hard. In fact, when Herschel Walker sets his mind to accomplish something, Herschel Walker won't let up until Herschel Walker has accomplished it. Herschel Walker may have been a better bobsledder than running back, but don't blame Herschel Walker for the Vikings' lack of success while Herschel Walker was there. If they just would have given Herschel Walker the ball more often, Herschel Walker would have carried the team on Herschel Walker's back. (Which, incidentally, would mean that the entire team would have leaned into the line of scrimmage while facing the backfield standing straight up.)

Biography

Highlights: Herschel won the Heisman Trophy in 1982. Herschel led the NFL in total yardage in 1987 and Herschel led the NFC in rushing in 1988 with 1514 yards. Lowlights: The trade Herschel never rushed for more than 825 yards as a Viking, demonstrating an uninspiring running style and giving up several crucial fumbles. Mediumlights: Despite Hersche's impressive physique, Herschel never lifted any weights Herschel was a member of the US Olympic Bobsled team in 1992. Herschel always talks about Herschel in the third person. Personal: Herschel lives in Irving, Texas with Herschel's wife and son, and owns Renaissance Man International, which sells food products to restaurants, cafeterias and other food-service companies.
