MAMA Class of 1992 |
In recognition of his mediocre contribution to Minnesota sports
ALLEN RICEis hereby inducted into theMinnesota Assembly of Mediocre Athletes Hall of Fameon this 29th day of February, 1992A capable runner, average receiver, and an OK blocker, Allen Rice typified the mediocre-man's running back in his seven years with the Minnesota Vikings. Although he contributed to the team in countless unexceptional ways, he will best be revered by Vikings' fans as the player who largely inspired the ingenuity of offensive coordinator Bob Schnelker. Rice's predictable 2-yard plunge from out of the shotgun formation on 3rd and 17 became a staple of the Vikings' unimaginative offense during the late 1980's, earning Allen a reservation in this hallowed shrine of mediocrity.
