MAMA Class of 1992 |
In recognition of his mediocre contribution to Minnesota sports
RON DAVISis hereby inducted into theMinnesota Assembly of Mediocre Athletes Hall of Fameon this 29th day of February, 1992
It took a special man to draw the ire from who were often considered the
most passive and polite fans in the nation, but Ron Davis managed to bring
the word "boo" back into the Minnesotan's vocabulary. Despite being one of the league's top strikeout pitchers and save leaders, Ron's predictable
game-ending home run balls were a delight to American League teams during
the mid 1980's, and even elderly ladies at the Metrodome could be heard to
join the battle cry, "Trade the bum!". It may be largely attributable to Ron that the statistic of "blown saves" became an official Major League statistic near the end of
his reign. |
