In recognition of his mediocre contribution to Minnesota sports

RANDY BREUER

is hereby inducted into the

Minnesota Assembly of Mediocre Athletes Hall of Fame

on this 29th day of February, 1992

For more than a decade, Randy was recognized as the "big man" in Minnesota basketball. Starting with his days as a Gopher in the early eighties, Randy came to symbolize the "tall, skinny white-guy" to a generation of Minnesotans. While his days as a Gopher will be remembered for a record-setting career in which he led the team to a Big 10 championship, his days as a Timberwolf were renowned mostly as a local-interest attraction on a struggling expansion team.

Biography

Highlights:
Minnesota "Mr.Basketball" in 1979
University of Minnesota "Male Athlete of the Year" in 1983
81-39 career record during his 4 years with the Gophers, including a Big Ten championship in 1982.
Randy left the Gophers as their second all-time leading scorer.
Randy is still ranked as the #10 shot-blocker in Big Ten History

Lowlights:
Compiled a 66-180 record in 3 years with the expansion Timberwolves
7'3" frame was offset in the NBA by his 5" vertical leaping ability.
Never emerged beyond role-player status during his NBA career. His shooting touch seemed to worsen over the years, as evidenced by his decreasing FT% numbers.

Mediumlights:
Randy's first year with the T-Wolves was the first year he was not involved in post season play
According to this analysis, Randy was one of the few NBA big-men to significantly reduce his fouls per game over the years.
Randy was recently surpassed as Lakeville High School's all-time leading scorer.

Personal:
As a youngster Randy was in 4-H and spent lots of time with livestock. He is a 1983 Agriculture Business graduate of the University of Minnesota and has spent 30 years living on a farm. Randy is currently retired from his eleven-year career in the NBA. He and his wife live in Eden Prairie where they own an insurance company and Randy coaches youth basketball teams. They have three children, Kevin, Chris, and Kelly. Additional members of their family include their three dogs, two Dobermans and a German short haired pointer.

Randy was raised on a 480 acre dairy farm in Southeastern Minnesota. He currently owns 80 of these original acres which he rents to a local farmer. He returns to the farm each spring and fall for planting and harvesting.
