BOORN is a spelling variation of the English toponym Boorne or Bourne. The nameis derived from the Old English word burna or burne meaning a stream coming from a spring. it appears that most bearers of the name originated int eh West Midlands area of England. There are over half a dozen places in England with the element bourne(e) in the name.
However, according tot Flavia Hodges and Patrick Hanks in The Oxford Dictionary of Surnames (1989), nearly all people from England with the name Boorne are descendants of Thomas Boorne, who lived in Deptford Kent from 1755 to 1840.
The earliest record that William T.S. Noble in Names from Here and Far – The New Holland Dictionary of Names (2003) is of one William Walter le Borne, mentioned in the Pipe Rolls of Norfolk in 1164 (9) page 97.
