On a hot and humid day Malverne tried their best, but came up a little short . It started in the first inning, when Chris R did a great job getting out of a bases loaded /no out jam. In the second inning, Malverne took a 3-1 lead on a couple of stolen bases by Patrick O and some timely hitting by Bart T and Alex K (each with 2 hits tonight). Anthony C pitched the 3rd and 4th innings and Matt S finished the game. Merillion scored five runs in the 5th and three runs in the 6th to take a 11-4 lead, but Malverne came roaring back. In the bottom of the 6th Nick B, Franklin A, Bart T, and Chris R pounded 4 consecutive hits, from there they managed to get the tying run to the plate, but were shut down by a gritty Merillion team. There were some great plays in the field today, one by John B, catching a fly ball to left center and another by Nick B as he scrambled after a wild pitch and nailed a runner trying to score. Alec D added another stolen base to his name, while Connor W and Joe F did a great job behind the plate today as well.
