| The Dragons got off to a slow start in their season opener vs a tough Long Beach team. The Dragons fell behind 2-0, but it would have been worse if not for the fine defensive play of Kevin, Joe, and Francis.Tyler did an outstanding job in goal, keeping his team in the game with some fabulous saves. The first half ended with the Dragons trailing by 2. When the 2nd half started, the Dragons showed what they could do. Andrew took a pass from Bart and placed a perfect shot into the net to get the boys on the board. With the score 2-1 the Dragons' defensman Kevin suffered a wrist injury and had to leave the game and seek medical attention The team decided to win this one for Kevin, and soon after that, Andrew scored his second goal of the game on a penalty shot. With the score tied 2-2 Nick took a pass from Matt S and made a few nifty moves around the Long Beach defense and put the Dragons up 3-2. The boys wern't done yet, Andrew made a great pass to Alec and he deposited it into the goal for a 4-2 lead. There was some great play by Timmy, Matt M, Johnny, and Jimmy which kept Long Beach from getting near the goal in the 2nd half. The boys were tired, having only 1 sub for the second half, but they managed to score 1 more time. | Brunjes Breaks Out!!!
The Dragons added a new player to the roster this week by the name of Nick R. Some of you already know this little speedster, and for those of you who don�t�..You soon will !!! Welcome to the team. The Dragons had a little fun today at the expense of the boys from Sacred Heart. The scoring started early today with an unassisted goal by Bart. The second goal was set up by some nice passing from Bart to Andrew to Alec for the goal. Sacred Heart got back into the game briefly by scoring and cutting the lead to 2-1. The Dragons took control from there. Connor gave the boys a 3-1 lead with an unassisted goal. Some great teamwork again helped the Dragons increase their lead as Johnny B scored with Alec and Francis getting assists. Johnny B wasn�t done yet. There was a long pass from Conner and then a centering pass from Alec and Johnny banged it in for a 5-1 halftime lead. In order to give Sacred Heart a chance to get back in the game, the Dragons removed two players from the field and put that scoring machine, Johnny B in goal for the remainder of the game. Even playing shorthanded the boys continued to pour it on. Andrew scored, with assists gong to Tyler and Laurent. Connor then scored his second goal of the game after Francis did a great job keeping the ball in the offensive zone. Francis as always, was giving it his all. Whether the score is 1-0 or 10-0, Francis never slows down!!! Closing out the scoring for the Dragons was Nick B, with the assist going to Andrew. | Nick Nets Four!!!
The Dragons raised their record to 3-0 by beating Sacred Heart 9-6. Nick opened the scoring with a goal early in the first quarter. John B quickly followed that with a goal of his own off a pass from Andrew. John B continues to improve and has now scored 3 goals in the past 2 games. Andrew knocked in his first goal of the game right after that with assists going to Nick and Bart. Nick scored his second of the game shortly after that to take a 4-0 lead Sacred Heart came back with two goals to make it a 4-2 game. Francis as always, was really hustling on defense but got a chance to play a little offense today and was right in the middle of things there too. He then played goal in 2nd half and did a great job. Joe W made some good plays out there even after taking a �Mud Bath� giving Joe the �Dirtiest Player Award� for today�s game. Joe showed that no matter what happens out there, you have to get right back in the game. Way to go Joe!!! Timmy was really involved in the action today and continues to improve on and off the field as he was heard cheering for his teammates louder than anyone else while he was on the sidelines. Coaches love to see their players paying attention even when they are not in the game. Keep up the good work Timmy!!! Matt M played another solid game keeping the opposing team off balance with his defensive play Tyler played goal in the first half and played fantastic once again, stopping a penalty shot that would have made it a very close game. But before the half ended, Andrew scored his second of the game for a 5-2 halftime lead. Bart open-end up the second half scoring with a quick goal giving the Dragons a 6-2 lead. Nick then took a pass from Andrew and went in all alone on a breakaway and scored giving him a HAT TRICK and a 7-2 lead. Sacred Heart scored again before Tyler took a pass from Andrew (his 3rd assist of the game) and drove past the defense and scored making it an 8-3 game. Sacred heart added 2 more to make it 8-5 before Nick capped off the Dragons scoring with his fourth goal of the game making it 9-5. Sacred Heart scored 1 final time making the final score: Dragons 9 Sacred Heart 6 We had a special player on our roster today. His name was Jamie B. He has been practicing with the team for the last few weeks and finally made it into the game today. He isn�t as big as some of the other guys but he is just as tough. He played defense and midfield today and did a TREMENDOUS job. He didn�t get pushed around at all and showed he can play with the big boys. Thanks Jamie for helping us win!!! Photo Gallery |

| Connor W Joins Dragons
The Dragons had won their first 3 games of the season and with another impressive win, stretched their winning streak to 4. Newcomer Connor W jumped right in and openned up the scoring with his first goal of the year. He scored so quickly, his Mom didn�t even get to see it. With the Dragons leading 1-0. John B continued his AMAZING play and scored his 4th goal in 3 games by making a great move that faked out the goalie and defender and deposited the ball into the net. Keep it going John, you�re doing GREAT!!! Connor W then scored his 2nd of the game making it 3-0. And if this reporter is not mistaken, his Mom missed that one too. (Thank Goodness for videotape). Nick added one more in the first half making it 4-0. Tyler played goal again in the first half and kept Sacred Heart off the board with the help of some excellent defense by Francis. Tyler, who was looking for some action, was replaced in goal in the second half by Connor W and moved to offense. Matt S was playing the game of his life. Even though he didn�t score he ran up and down that field as hard as he could, chasing opposing players from one end of the field to the other. Great Job Matt, keep it up!!!Andrew had a goal and a few assists today and continues to show how well he can handle the ball. Matt M and Joe W helped keep Sacred Heart from getting back into the game with some hard work and hustle. | St. Aidans Tops Dragons 9-7
In the most exciting game so far this season, the Dragons suffered their first loss at the hands on the St Aidans boys. It was Kevin�s first game back from an injury and he played great. We really missed that foot of his!!! Helping out today was Jamie B again and he showed why he�s here. He got into the mix whenever he could and made some great defensive plays and boy, did he HUSTLE !!! The Dragons fell behind 1-0 but tied it up on a goal by Conner G. The teams kept trading goals the whole 1st half. Nick B beat the defense with a burst of speed and with his left foot, banged in his 1st of the game The Conner G scored his 2nd of the game after a scramble in front of the net. Then Nick B took a crossing pass from Andrew and put in his 2nd goal. The prettiest play of the day came on a corner kick. Bart passed it in to Nick B who dribbled passed one defender and split the defense with a perfect pass back to Bart who tipped it in past a stunned St. Aidans goaltender. The half ended with the Dragons leading 5-4. Tyler played another great half in goal keeping his team in the game. Conner G took over the goalie duties in the second half and made a few spectacular saves including a diving save to his right. With help from Matt M and Matt S on defense the Dragons tried to hold off St. Aidans, but with the wind in their faces and no subs the Dragons slowly let the game get away surrendering five 2nd half goals. Johnny B and Tyler were running hard trying to give the Dragons a lift but St. Aidans proved to be too tough. Bart scored his 2nd of the game after blocking a clearing shot by the defense. Nick B drew a penalty shot with his hustle after he was taken down in the �box�. He lifted his shot over the goalies head and just under the crossbar for the final goal giving him a HAT TRICK. | NICK B GETS THIRD HAT TRICK Another windy day at Point Lookout Field vs. the Long Beach Team......and another victory. Nick B got the Dragons on the board first after taking a pass from Andrew and knocking it past the Long Beach goaltender. Long Beach came right back and tied it up with a goal of their own making it 1-1. Before the first half was over Nick B managed to get one more into the net giving the Dragons a 2-1 halftime lead. Bart started in goal today and played a fantastic half before tuning the goalkeeper duties over to Johnny B. The second half scoring began with a crossing pass from Andrew to Bart and then to Nick B, who banged it in for his third goal of the game giving him the old HAT TRICK!!! With the defense playing tough, Long Beach was unable to score in the final half of the game. The Dragons closed out the scoring with a goal by Andrew, giving them a 4-1 lead. The Dragons upped their record to 5-1 and return home next Sunday to take on Long Beach one last time. Final Score Dragons 5 Long Beach 1 |
| HAT TRICK FOR BART
The Dragons continued to dominate the Long Beach team as the two teams met for the last time this season. I�m sure Long Beach won�t want to even think about the Dragons till next year. The scoring started early today with a goal by Bart off a pass from Connor G. Bart quickly added his second goal of the game by taking a pass from Andrew and pounding it in with his left foot making it a 2-0 game. Tyler played goal in the first half allowing only one goal which made it a 2-1 game. Tyler had some sparkling saves and played some real aggressive goal today. After getting roughed up in the �box� ,Bart was awarded a penalty shot and made the best of it drilling a bullet at the goalie who was knocked into the net along with the ball as Bart completed his HAT TRICK giving the Dragons a 3-1 halftime lead. In order to give the opposition a break, Bart was moved into the goalie position in the second half. He made some great saves and even provided some offensive spark from there with his long punts up the right side to Nick B who worked his way in around the defense a few times until he netted his first of the game, making it 4-1 Dragons. Outstanding play was all around today, especially from Tyler, Laurent and Joe W. Joe, who made some excellent clearing shots from in front of his own net is really helping his team. Matt S was really hustling today along with Timmy who is getting better every game. Matt M got a chance to play some offense to day along with Kevin and Jimmy D, who almost netted one today As always, Francis battled his way to another superb game. The final goal of the game was scored by Nick B after taking a pass from Johnny B, worked his way in and squeezed one passed the Long Beach Goalie giving the Dragons a 5-1 victory raising their record to an astounding 6-1 |
