Loss By Death

People in your life will come and go
When and how you never know
Some stay around but some you lose
Which is which is not for you to choose
But nothing hurts more than loss by death
One minute you've got them
The next they're not there
Their place is left bare
And there's no worse pain
Than knowing you'll never see a loved one again
In the midst of your despair
You become aware
Of words left unsaid
Of things that should've been done
Before they were dead
And now their bodies are turning rotten
But they won't ever be forgotten
And though time can't be turned
You'll hopefully have learned
To appreciate those around
While they're still safe and sound
