| ADELAIDE 2004 - HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!... Once again the Maltese Own Band looks forward to its annual trip to Adelaide in October 2004 for the Feast of Our Lady Queen of Victories. There are two bands which entertain the South Australian Maltese Community at the Feast of Our Lady Queen of Victories. The Maltese Queen of Victories Band of SA and of course The Maltese Own Band Philharmonic Society which is invited to offer our friendship and musical talents once again. A long time relationship The Maltese Own Band's relationship with the Maltese Queen of Victories Band of SA dates back to the very first feast organised in SA back in October 1980. With the new statue of Our Lady Queen of Victories, the participants of the Maltese Own Band Philharmonic Society of Victoria, the ardent work of the feast committee and various enthusiastic helpers, this feast resulted in a significant and jubilant occasion for the Maltese Community of South Australia. No doubt, the highlight of the feast was the magnificent sound of the Maltese Own Band's Maltese hymns and marches, which naturally left many Maltese reminiscing the traditional, jubilant feasts and bands back in their homeland of Malta. The Maltese Own Band have always been regarded as the MQVB's sister band for many years. It is because of this that so many of us band players, particularly the youths look forward to the trip to Adelaide immensley. At band rehearsal on a Wednesday night, a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes to prepare for Adelaide. The band players, in conjunction witht the Musical Directors and committee, work hard to get the band into form for October. For Adelaide in 2003, the Maltese Own Band introduced a complete new set of Maltese marches, some new musicians and committee members, a new Assistant Band Master, and exceptional musical entertainment which topped of another successful Adelaide trip. The Maltese Own Band look to October 2004 to add to this astounding success. |
