Biography
Quicksand was formed in March 1998 by Kris Spiteri and Kevin Vella, with the intention of creating a new and happening sound. At the time, the popular local band Syndrome, which Kris fronted, had split up, and Kevin had just left the band Denmark Street.  Shortly after its conception, the duo performed live on a local television programme Lajf on PBS, provoking an unexpectedly cool vibe from the audience.  Fabio Giorgio, Syndrome's drummer, teamed up with the two shortly.  Boris Cezek, who had just completed recording material for his solo project in Yugoslavia, and Eric Wedge completed the line-up.  The band built up a repertoire of original material over the following months, and subsequently put together a separate set of current and classic cover versions, a great combination crafted to groove a wide cross section of audiences.  Quicksand play a blend of grungy, alternative rock, drawing influences from Suede, David Bowie, U2, Live, Blur and Radiohead. Kris' and Boris' diverse compositional styles fuse together to create an exciting blast of noise, the former in his inimitable pseudo-depressive style, and the latter providing an uplifting mood in stark contrast.
