Rock climbing photos

Ghar Lapsi:

A photo sequence showing me whilst trying Altar of Stone on top rope a few days away before leading it.  Photos taken on 4 August 2000
Photo 1: changing hands and securing a small hold under the roof; photo 2: reaching for that far-away edge; photo 3: absorbing the swing; photo 4: hanging from the roof...

Left photo: securing a foothold over the roof.  Right photo: with the foot secured a powerful pull-up or rock-over will bring you over the edge Leading the Altar of Stone.  Left photo: clipping the only bolt on the route.  Right photo reaching for the edge.
Left photo: Hanging from the roof of Altar of Stone and right photo: falling from the top.  The route is totally safe to climb Leading the route Genghis Cant in the same cave as Altar of Stone.

Doing self belay on various slab-routes while my workmates learnt abseiling (29 March 2005)

Wied Babu, Zurrieq:

Some short routes in the first part of Wied Babu.  The rock is smooth and a pleasure to climb!  Photos taken on 7 August 2000 Deeper into the valley there are various climbs of every grade

At the start point of the multi-pitch route "Sunday Morning".  Photo taken on 21 December 2000

Wied il-Bassasa, Zurrieq:

A new climbing route in Wied il-Bassasa.  The start is easy going with huge rocks to hang to.  Even the angle is humane.
 (Photos taken 12 June 2005)
The route progresses into savage overhangs and tricky parts.  Seen here tackling a crux!  (Photos taken on 12 June 2005)
Checking for the next possible move Belaying Kurt on Equinox Another day at Bassasa, so another try to my route.  (Photos taken 3 July 2005)
Going up to the crux! A great rest place where to chalk and think about the crux to come! Up to the tricky part!  (Photos taken 3 July 2005)

Going back to the car is a tricky exposed and very dangerous climb back up the steep cliffs.  Not for beginners or weak hearted people.  The sheer drop is usually fatal!  Beware!

Fomm ir-Rih:

Glasnost is one of those must-do routes.  Easy but exposed it has a combination of everything - slippery holds, big holds, small crimps and a very limited possibility to protect it!!!  Left photo shows me in the middle of the route and photo right almost at the top.  (Photos 10 June 2001) Leading Glasnost (8 June 2003).  Left photo: tackling the crux of the climb with a couple of 1-finger pockets. Right photo: reaching some easy holds after the hard crux.  The last protection is still a long way below.  This climb is very dangerous and one fall can lead to serious injury!
Progressing slowly towards the top on Glasnost (8 June 2003) Arriving at the top of Glasnost! Leading Step in the Void
(12 Sep 2004).
Photos from leading of Step in the Void (12 Sep 2004).  Photo 1: almost at the first crux of the route.  Photo 2: reaching for the last protection 3m below the top.  Photo 3: just after tackling the second crux.  Last photo: a steep section to tackle before the easy holds
Tackling the second crux in Step in the Void First try on Flight of the Kondor some days after leading Step in the Void.
At the middle section of Flight of the Kondor.  The route is rough and savagely overhanging.

Up a ledge in the middle of the route This photo shows the approximate height of the route (the route starts about 3m above sea level)
