I have a lot of war inspired poems. Yes, this one is Vietnam era. It's not my best Vietnam era poem but it's the only one i could find.
WIDOW
She waits by the window
He's not coming back
He left her a widow
when he marched up that track
they flanked his platoon
they came from the jungles
the only witness was a loon
who saw the mangled
corpses lining the swamp
