First, there were two Nathan Stansbury who were born within ten years of birth. It appears both were born in New Jersey. Nathan Stansbury born 1760-65 was the son of Francis Stansberry and died in Clinton District, Monongolia County, WV.
Nathan Stanbury, was born 1755 NJ., died 15 February, 1819 in Richmond, IN. He was the son of Nathan and Prudence Stansbury, the grandson of Recompense Stansbury and the great grandson of Josiah Stansbury of New Jersey. Nathan was named in his father's will proved 21 April, 1762 in NJ.
He married about 1782 in Wilkes Co. NC., to Julia Harrison, born about 1755 in Wilkes, NC., and died about 1820 in Wayne, Richmond, IN.
The 1787 Wilkes County, North Carolina Tax List Captain Isbell's District list Nathan Stanbury with 50 acres. He is listed on the 1790 and 1800 Census in Wilkes Co. NC., in the Morgan District. In 1817 sold his holding and moves to Indiana.
Children of Nathan and Julia Stansbury lived in the Wilkesboro area of Wilkes Co. NC., All of their children were born in Wilkes Co. It appears that all the sons of Nathan went to KY., except John who remained in NC.

5. Moses Stansbury, born 1800; died 1862 Whitley Co. KY. He married 11 May 1827 in KY., to Mary Elizabeth Snyder.
6. Elizabeth Stansbury, born 1812 NC., died 17 January 1881 Laurel Co. KY. She married 12 August, 1834 Laurel Co. to William McHargue.
David Stansbury, son of Nathan and Prudence Stansbury. He was born 2 January, 1784 in NC., and died in 1855 in Whitley, KY. He married 06 September, 1806 NC. Rachel Holeman daughter of Thomas Holeman and wife Margaret Southerland.
David and Rachel are listed on the 1850 Census of Laurel Co. KY. on Page 34. David and Rachel both are listed as age 63 and born in NC. David was listed as a farmer. Tobia is listed in the household and may be a widowed son. others in household were:
