| This was certainly the one that got away. West Wyalong went into half time leading 6-4 after an impressive first half defensive effort and were first to score early in the second half to go 10-4 up, then appeared to score again after a 1 on 1 steal by Jarrod Carruthers who raced 60 metres to cross the Yanco line only to be called back � ref called it 2 in the tackle � WRONG.
The boys then had a bit of a �doze� and in the following 13 minutes allowed Yanco to pile on 6 tries and 28 points. The clock then beat the Mallee Men who fought back late in the half to finish behind on the scoreboard 22-36. The boys will certainly not allow this to happen next week against Yenda at home. The 2�s match was a fumbly affair by both sides, both scoring 5 tries each, but Yanco converting 3 to our 1. The Under 18�s showed their class, completely outgunning Yanco 40-10. Similar to the Reserves, the Under 16�s matched Yanco in tries, scoring 4 each, but the reliable Jared Kelly had trouble reading the wind and missed all 4 conversion attempts. Reserves Yanco Wamoon 26 - West Wyalong 22 Tries to Ron Pettit, Brian Studholme, Scott Pettit, Jeff Castle & Chris McDonell, 1 goal to Ron Pettit Under 18�s West Wyalong 40 - Yanco Wamoon 10 Tries to Matt Nicholson & Mark Byrne 2 each, Steve Donaldson, Jared Carruthers, Josh Judd & Chris Collins 1 each. Wade Judd 3 goals, Mark Byrne 1. Under 16�s Yanco Wamoon 20 - West Wyalong 16 Tries to Matt Lanyon, Mitch Scealy, Beau Widdison & Mitch Pettit. |
