| What a change 7 days can bring. With the welcome return of wingers Grant Pettit, & Chris Mayberry, and center Mick Loudon along with the inclusion of a bit more �heavy� in the pack courtesy of Mick Hopper, the boys brushed aside last week�s debacle and showed that they will be there in September by defeating last week winners Darlington Point � Colleambally 34-22 at Ron Crowe Oval on Sunday.
Although DPC got off to a flyer and were first to post points, West Wyalong worked hard all day and wore down their bigger opponents to run away with the game in the second half. Trailing 10-12 at half time, the Mallee Men got into stride after the break and outscored the Roosters 24-10 in the second 40 minutes. With the inclusion of the three backs as mentioned above, a feature of the game was the strong running from Chris Jamieson who was unlucky not to have scored more than the one try that he did. The backline received plenty of ball and were able to make the breaks that tired the opposition. Best for the Mallee Men were coach Ryan Prevett, Chris Jamieson, Dan Hartnett, Jack Jones & Mick Loudon. Next week we travel to Griffith Rugby Oval to take on Black & Whites who have been touted as potential Grand Finalists even at this early stage. With the confidence gained from the weekend win the boys will be ready to knock the confidence out of Griffith. In lower grades West Wyalong snuck home 36/34 in Reserve Grade with an outstanding effort by 2003 Under 18 Ian Hopper who scored 24 points, were narrowly beaten 14/16 in the Under 18�s and an Under 16 romp saw them winners 60/4.
