"Yeeehaw" or 'Howdeee ho...!"
That's how the Rosie POpps ShOw kicked off on a weekend. What started as a humble pop & dance dedication programme in Sept of 1997, just after I left Perfect 10, ...... progressed into a madcap show that got pop fans lusting for their weekend pop dosage of teatime treats for 3 blissful years.
1st HR: pop scoop & popsters 7 jingle 2nd HR: lunchtime dedication 3rd HR: comedy spoofs & more dedications 4th HR: 'Drop In 4 Tea' & Sing song session
Last hour is the highlight of the show with guest dropping in for tea with ROsie (hence the title) have a good laff. From groupies to TV celebs Kim Ng to pop stars of the day ..Don Philip and Code Red.
Although invitation to tea began in 1998, letters came in by the sack full a year earlier. Some of the enthusiastic eager beavers sang on the show & put up comical spoofs of movies. By the time the ROsie Popps Show moved to broadcast from the basement of Takashimaya Shopping Centre, listeners knew them as the elfish popsters. The show went on with more poptastic fun, mayhem and some even claimed that .... 'it's very Smash Hits'.
Well that kinda made my day. Hmmm........ All too soon, all good things came to an end but the fond memories 'live on' In hindsight, there was nothing we could do to stop having so much fun & banter. Thank you all who have contributed in one way or another to the success of the show and off course, the listeners who made us part of their weekend - Mucho gracias! |
