O'Connor was a simple man, Fisherman born of County Cork. Gone were the travelling days of youth; He had sworn married to his work.

Ione was a simple woman, A dancer, born in Leningrad-- Forvever seeking to reclaim The lost beauty she once had.

Swept inland by soft tidal touch, Along the rocky island shore. One life anew ahead of her, And one life gone forever more.

Her slender frame erect on deck, Soft and frail, tired and oh so weak. The sun shone from the cross 'round her neck; The boat slid in with a sense of peace.

A swarm of curious onlookers Came to examine the wayward ship. Its passenger had caught Erik's eye-- A smile had caught up with Erik's lips.

"Eternal test'ment of beauty, True love I know my heart did find. And as I stand on God's green earth, Oh yes, I swear she will be mine!"

Though he had sworn to bachelorhood, Irish pride, true it did conceed-- For in his eye was the purest gem As ever one has or will conceive.

And after her his heart did follow (With his feet just slightly behind) Hoping always she was unaware, Or praying she wouldn't mind.

And then one day, she stopped and turned, So deftly catching Erik's eye. "Why do you follow me?" she asked. Soft yet sten, her look demaning reply.

A smile had crossed Erik's face. A reply, why he'd give her one. He'd craft quite a lofty verse, Worth to be angel-sung.

He said, "hope you'll forgive me stare, but Even on an isle such as ours, Mine eyes have never seen such beauty. Truly you belong among the stars."

"So I hope you'll forive me 'gain, But my eyes lust for your likeness. I'd even say the sun but shines That your face be not sheathed in darkness."

With redd'ning cheeks, she returned his gaze. Her heart it seemed he had won. "But I'm not looking for a man," she said. "Since I used to be one."
