| All Malinger Fans,
This is Worm (Mike Virok), the frontman for Malinger. For all of you who
were at the Conduit on 2-25-03, we give our sincerest
thanks and we apologize for the way that you were mistreated by the venue.
For everyone who wasn't there, here's what happened.
There is a sound "technician" working at the Conduit named
Scott. Scott decided to complain that Jeff, our drummer, wasn't setting
up his equipment fast enough. So, Groner, our bass player, commented by
saying that, "If the show had started on time, this wouldn't be an issue."
Words were soon spoken between the two. After some extreme squabbling about
Scott saying "This is my club - blah blah blah", the band was ready to
take the stage. Revved up, they began playing "305", when halfway through
the song, the band (and our fans) realized that the PA in the club wasn't
even turned on. Apparently, Scott walked out and wouldn't run the PA for
us because of his little arguement with Groner. So, the set continued,
"Shana's Song", and the new song "Clarity". This is when things became
raw. I don't remember how it came to this, but Eric (the guitarist) walked
up to the front of the stage and screamed "F_ck Conduit". Lights out. Then
Scott announced "Due to the unproffessional manner of the band, Malinger's
performance has been cancelled."
So, what does this mean? It means the Conduit litterally
stole tickets from us for our fans to see us play, but we never even played!
It also means that the Conduit is no longer the "happy
stomping grounds" of Malinger. I'm sorry, but any band that would opt to
play there and deal with "Mr I Can't Drive 55" on the soundboard becuase
he thinks he OWNS the Conduit (by the way Scott, I was
right in back of you when you said ::"THIS IS MY CLUB"::) is crazy.
To the bands that performed before us, it was a great show.
I'm not asking for anything from our fans, since you did pay for bum tickets.
But, what I am suggesting is that you e-mail the Conduit,
call there, or something along these lines to express your feelings about
this situation. It was not our fault the sound guy didn't do his job. Here
are some e-mails.
